The City of Falling Angels +++

John Berendt wrote this non-fiction detective story about how Teatro La Fenice, the famous opera house in Venice burned in January 1996. He had unusual access to many of the palacios lining the canals, the high society occupying them and many of the artists of the day. It was an affectionate view of Venice through the several years until the cause of the fire was finally and rather quietly settled. A nice little real-life romp thru the Italian establishment.

Books I'm Reading

  • Bones, Rocks and Stars by Chris Turney
  • Kick Ass by Carl Hiaasen
  • Life by Richard Fortey
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, a bowl of whipped cream in the other, my 1935 Pooh Bear and a good book tucked under my arms, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"
